Tonight, (or yesterday for that matter) i decided to do a chest study. I was drawing a comic book super hero when i noticed that i wasn't to familiar with the muscles/anatomy as i should be. Hopefully more studies will be posted up soon.

This group (which was the largest) turned out a more cartoony then the previous groups, but i think its cool to try different ways of caricaturing. CTN expo brings change

Last weekend was the second CTN Animation Expo. Got to talk to a lot of cool people, got many new contacts and got a good critiques. After listening to different panels it gave me new ideas for my short and for my demo reel. Above are the new character designs for my Untitled Pantie Raid short. The 3 on the left are in the Fraternity, the one in the middle being the leader. The one on the right is the star of the short, trying to get in to the Frat house.

Soon, i'll be posting up new animations for my reel. I plan to start a new and only keep 2 pieces with new animation.

College Fraternity update

So heres a background update of the College Fraternity. I sent an email over to Edgar Cardona asking for a critique and he sent me back some great ideas to use, so i repainted the dorm using his as a guide. Still not quite done with the Frat yet, but its looking a lot better. Thanks again Edgar!

A co-worker has got me reading "Ultimate spider man" on my lunch breaks. Really good i recommend it ...anyway i decided to take a break from my personal works and do something for fun. Drew it in my sketch book first...then scanned and colored it in photoshop

The pose is taken from the "Ultimate spider man" #105 cover. I like the pose...plus thats what i be doing if i could hang upside down.

Hopefully i'll have more post up soon...from my short and from my updated demo reel

i dislike making backgrounds

I'll admit, i very much dislike backgrounds. I've never found joy in drawing buildings or trees or environments. It is something that is essential to any animation so i applaud those who do love and/or do backgrounds for a living. One of the main reasons why i dislike backgrounds is my problem with perceptive. I can never seem to get it the way i want it too and i always second guess my-self.

While doing our first short in school "ye olde fantasy speed dating" the background team did something to aid them with that issue. The head of backgrounds modeled in Maya the whole scene, that way it would be easier for them to get the preceptive correct. Now, im not a modeler, but i thought i could use this to my advantage.

Now i hope not to use this as a crutch, but just to help me get the perceptive correct. Thats why i still do a quick sketch to get the idea out first, then do a simple model in Maya.

this is my friends character for a project we are working on. The actually animation is going to be flash symbol animation, but i wanted to practice different types of walk cycles and these characters are always in my head.

I plan to clean it up and color it later.

i need to start animating the basics again. Not for special reasons, just for practice. I also should practice trying to do some animations "faster" then i used to do.

for the 11 second club, i got 116 out of 142 entries. I dont really know how i feel about that, but i didnt get last so thats not that bad!

i got good comments, most of them saying the same thing, so i agree with all of them.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE!: no one said the animation sucked!!

If anything, i learned how i need to animate in 2d more, and that i need to make sure my camera angels read better.

This wont stop me from competing again, if anything it just wants me to get better

So i'm trying to get an animation done to enter for this months animation competition for the 11 second club (11secondclub.com)

The way the competition works is they give you a sound file and you have untill the end of the month to turn in your animation. People from the site vote on which one they think is the best. The winner recieves a professional AnimationMentor eCritique. I just want to practice animating and i think this is a good way to practice.

the two guys on the right are the characters i will be animating to the audio. Left is Voice 1 and right is Voice 2, (never gave them names, might do that later)

i'll be posting some animation roughs and the final one later...in hoping that i get it done before the end of the month. Wish me luck!

So i haven't been drawing as much as i should have been...due to trying to graduate. Now i feel like i must get back into doing the thing i once loved to do. i feel pretty rusty but i have to push forward.

the laughing guy is Chuck. I was watching 1000 ways to die and a story of a man named "chuck" laughed him-self to death, made me want to draw my "style" of him. maybe i'll draw that later...

This one is pretty old...i think i drew it summer of '08 for Character Modeling class. named him "Party Monster". Wanted to continue doing stuff using him, but people kept confusing him with someone elses work, so i droped it. Maybe for fun i'll redesign him later.

Now i must draw more....and animate =D

Fetch version 1

Fetch was my first ever REAL animated short. I was in a rush to color it and finish it that i never really got to fine tune it like i should have.

I call this Version 1, because i plan to do a version 2, showing off the new stuff i've learned. Don't know if i'm going to re-do it, or just have another cartoon starting the same dogs

I finally started to scan the drawings from my
Sketch book so i can paint them. I came across this photo of
actress Thea Gill, and i found it beautiful.

I've Been meaning to draw it for a long time now, butdue to trying to finish my Cartoon in time, i put it off. Well now thats done and out of the way i was able to start and finish this painting.

To the right is the is the oringal sketch.

After that i threw it into photoshop and painted it, coming out with the final painting.

As of now, i'm happy with it and done. If i see that i need to fix something i will.

Well for the last 3 or more months of my life, i have dedicated my-self to a 3 and 17 seconds cartoon short called "Fetch"

it started out as a short for a 2D class, but i continued to work on it since everyone seemed to like it.

I was told of a animation film festival that i could submit it too... and that deadline is coming up close....
